Perhaps I am wrong, but here are my thoughts on His Name.

My name is Lynda. And while there are many things that I have done & many things about me that might be noteworthy, none of those things is my name.

Some years ago I received a chart that had 10 different "names" of GOD, among them were El Shaddai - all sufficient One (Gen 17, 35, 48 & 49; Ps 90); Jehovah Rapha - the LORD Who heals (Ex 15; Ps 103 & 147; 1 Peter 2:24); Jehovah Rohi - the LORD is my Shepherd (Ps 23; Is 53; Jn 10; Heb 13; Rev 7); Jehovah Tsidkenu - the LORD our Righteousness (Jer 23 & 33; Ez 36; 2 Cor 5).
There were others too of course, Adonai, Elohim, El Roi & Immanuel.

But the two, or perhaps it is just One, the Name that He called Himself was Jehovah, I AM, sometimes shown as YHWH, which is Yahweh but with the vowels taken out. 

His Name is above every name that is named (Ep 1:21). It was in Ex 6:3 that He called Himself Jehovah. In Ps 83, a song written by Asaph (a Levite, a man blessed with a wonderful memory & with music) addressed GOD as Elohim & "El" (vs 1), in vs 16 he called Him Yehovah (LORD), & vs 18 said, "that men may know that You, whose Name alone is Jehovah (Yehovah - LORD), are the Most High over all the earth."

Yes, He is all sufficient, He is the One Who heals, Who is our righteousness, our Shepherd. He is Immanuel, GOD with us, He is Adonai, often used in place of YHWH which is too sacred to be spoken. 

He is Elohim, which is a plural Hebrew word. Read through Genesis and see Him as the all powerful Creator of the universe, but see too that the word Elohim describes the Trinity in it's plurality. 

He is El Roi, the GOD Who sees me, Who knows all of my circumstances. In Gen 16, the angel of "Yehovah" tells Hagar that He is aware of her circumstances, His Character is described in those verses. In Ps 139, David said there was no place where he could be that Yehovah wasn't. 

Yehovah is His Name, all knowing & all seeing are only two of His attributes.

His Name is far too holy to be only one of the facets of Who He is.

Sometimes I think that we all as Christians have forgotten that when we approach Him, we may not see a burning bush, but we are standing on holy ground (Ex 3:5).

Even our Savior spoke with reverence as He said "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani" translated "my GOD, my GOD, why hast Thou forsaken me?"

While His precious & glorious, mighty & full of grace attributes can be found in many verses, His Name is still, at least for me, Jehovah (Yehovah) & far to holy to be referred to with just words. 

That is not to say that we should hesitate to approach Him, indeed not, but we must always be aware of His Supreme Holiness. He is GOD, Yehovah, The Great I AM, YHWH.

I long for the day when my old knees & hips are whole again so that I can lay on my face before Him without having such a struggle to get up!

If you have never done it, try lowering yourself both spiritually & physically before The Great I Am. Lay on your face before Him & allow your heart to be in total subjection to Him.

He is most worthy of our adoration!
