In my opinion the point of the word pictures that the psalmist used in this psalm was to describe the goodness of God through His creation.

The psalmist probably chose these because they best described how he saw the divine nature of his Creator.

He describes the height and the depth of God's love for His creation by His mercy, faithfulness, and righteousness.

The Lord preserves and protects! He is trustworthy and pours out His provision abundantly to satisfy the children of men.

He is the fountain of life and the light by which we see!
