Is it wrong for a Christian to pray for the death of an evil person, such as a murderous tyrant?

Philippians 4:6

AMP - 6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.

Who makes the evil tyrant more evil than any of us? We're all evil and capable of the worst atrocities known to man. Each and every one of us are no better than the worst Hitler, Stalin or whoever. God has each of us on a leash of restraint and it's only through His grace that we're not allowed to be as evil as our heart wants to be. Instead of praying for the tyrant's death, why not pray for his/her salvation? Pray that God has mercy on this person and gives them forgiveness and eternal life?

You and I are just as evil as any tyrant out there, the only difference is we haven't been given the opportunities they have...thank God.

If someone in a position of power is misusing it, it's right for us to pray for God to intervene. Exactly how God may choose to do that is of course up to him, but we can and should pray for peace and justice. Even the souls in heaven during the tribulation ask God for vengeance (Rev. 6:10).

While we are indeed all sinners, God judges us on the basis of how we lived (2 Cor. 5:10, Rev. 20:12). But until then, we should pray that leaders allow us to live in peace (1 Tim. 2:1-2).
