What can we learn from the contest on Mt. Carmel in 1 Kings 18?

In verse 27 when the prophets of Baal were not having any luck getting their fire started: "About noontime Elijah began mocking them. 'You'll have to shout louder, he scoffed, 'for surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or he is relieving himself. Or maybe he is away on a trip, or he is asleep and needs to be wakened!'"

1 Kings 18:20 - 40

ESV - ²⁰ So Ahab sent to all the people of Israel and gathered the prophets together at Mount Carmel. ²¹ And Elijah came near to all the people and said, "How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him." And the people did not answer him a word.
