What can we learn from the contest on Mt. Carmel in 1 Kings 18?

In verse 27 when the prophets of Baal were not having any luck getting their fire started: "About noontime Elijah began mocking them. 'You'll have to shout louder, he scoffed, 'for surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or he is relieving himself. Or maybe he is away on a trip, or he is asleep and needs to be wakened!'"

1 Kings 18:20 - 40

ESV - 20 So Ahab sent to all the people of Israel and gathered the prophets together at Mount Carmel. 21 And Elijah came near to all the people and said, "How long will you go limping between two different opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal, then follow him." And the people did not answer him a word.
