I humbly submit for your consideration my opinion on this matter, simply that much like art or music the innate bias of the beholder will govern their view on any matter.

Human nature being what it is five people can read the same article or document and give you six interpretations as to it’s content or meaning, thats why there are lawyers.

When it comes to the emotional subject of self defense there are basically two schools of thought on the matter, which simply stated are.

1. One should never ever use violence, the power and decorum of reason.
(the peace, love, and granola crowd). (Galatians 4:16)

2. The possibility of violence being done unto me or others is real.
(the sheepdog crowd). (Psalms 149:6-7)

Note: there is a small third group that sits on the fence on all matters before them. 
(luke warm crowd).(2 Corinthians 11:20; Revelation 3:15-16)

History
Basic human nature is to enslave or kill their fellow man, one group seeks to impose it’s idealogical will on the other and thus joins with other esoteric bureaucratic folks in their forced march to utopia.(Psalms 120:7)

Consider article two of the bill of rights an amendment to the US constitution written by men who had earlier fought and stood in the shadow of the king’s rope and hangman.

"A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Twenty seven simple words written 240 years ago, that for 200 of those years were unquestioned as to their expressed meaning. But then lawyers from our best schools began to decree those words mean not what they say as they stood on very fine carpet in expensive wood laden air conditioned rooms. (2 Corinthians 11:15)

And doubt arose among some in the land as this heretical caterwauling increased and with help from fellow idealogical traveling companions within the faculty lounge these commandos were able to corrupt new generations of incoming skulls full of mush.
Not surprisingly this same crowd found an unwritten or expressed right for confused males to have access into womens bathrooms? (Psalms 73:7; Psalms 82:5)

Bottom line
Our founding documents are based on Biblical principals; We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Their meaning would be debated on the bloody fields of a civil war, while reading the same Bible and praying to it's God.(Psalms 133:1)

Of the 51 men who freely and bravely signed this Declaration of treason against the crown, many would suffer great loss for their defiance and some would not live to see the fruit of their labor!

Lesser men without chests would rise as society forgets and speak against their principles. How much more so with the truths contained within Torah and the Bible which has been around a tad longer. (Luke 8:18)

Twenty first century governments welcomed into their nations people with an active seventh century ideology that means to drag them back to their seventh. 
That is until stark reality slapped them upside the head and ended the honeymoon with the German issued directive advising stocking food & water for possible terrorism.

Our current administration is most active in pursuing policies that are against the will of it’s people and the nations laws. While law enforcement appears to be quite busy with their own self defense at the moment to be of much help to anyone, as prophesied.

Human nature; Jesus stood before them as TRUTH and they rejected Him.

Perhaps we should consider King David. He was relentlessly tormented by King Saul.

His response: David did not open his mouth to any who planning deceit. He acted like he did not hear. He believed no word should be returned. He did not answer their reproaches. When he was spoken of evilly, he prayed, when cursed, he blessed. He was simple in heart, and fled from the proud. David bewailed his sins and wept. 

David was considered worthy by all the people. God called David a man after His own heart. Who else walked in holiness and justice as he did?
