How could a man born blind have committed sin at birth to deserve it?
The disciples ask Jesus, "Teacher, why was this man born blind? Was it because he or his parents sinned?"

In my opinion, the disciples' apparent supposition of sin being possible even before birth (not to be confused with the doctrine of original sin) might have arisen from passages such as Genesis 25:22, in which Jacob and Esau (of whom God later said in Malachi 1:3 (and as discussed by Paul in Romans 9:6-21), "Jacob have I loved but Esau have I hated,") were said to be struggling even before birth while still in Rebekah's womb). Such circumstances could (apparently in their view) have accounted for the man having been born blind.

John 9:2: And his disciples asked him, saying, "Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?" Every child is God’s creation into this world, the child that utters a word, or the child born dumb, or deaf, or can see or be blind is the Heavenly Father’s creation into this world. (Exodus 4:11) It’s the sinful nature that has bound the iniquities to a child from the forefathers, (Lamentations 5:7) as this blind man, neither had he sinned nor his parents, but the works of God should be made manifest through our Lord Jesus. (John 9:3) A child born in a mother's womb is born of a spirit, soul, and body and sanctified at the will of the Lord God almighty, such as the prophet Jeremiah. (Jeremiah 1:5) The Pharisees and the Scribes would shut the doors of the kingdom in their wisdom, nor would they allow others to enter the kingdom of God, for they believed they were wise. (Mat 23:13/Jer 8:8-9) As the wisdom revealed to David to write the book of Psalms, he was shaped in iniquity and sin, and conceived in his mother's womb (Psalm 51:5), and that comes from our forefathers. Isaac entreated with the Lord for his wife Rebekah because she was barren, and then she conceived, but the children struggled within her and she wondered, “Why am I thus?”. (Gen 25:21-22) Two nations came from her womb from which one would be stronger than the other and the elder would serve the younger. Jacob was blessed, and Esau’s secret places of sins were uncovered. (Gen 25:23/Jer 49:10) El’-ka-nah offered a worthy portion of sacrifice in the temple of Shi’-loh, for he loved Hannah more than Pe-nin’-nah as she cried in bitterness of her soul and prayed unto the Lord greatly, and she was blessed with a child in her womb. (1 Sam 1:5,10,20) As long as the soul lives praying unto the Lord for a blessed child, the child shall be blessed in the mother's womb, for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by Him, actions are weighed, for the Lord looks into the heart of the one who prays. (1 Sam 2:3/16:7) Jeremiah 1:5: Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
