Contrary to popular belief, we do not follow Jesus Christ in the flesh. We follow Jesus Christ ascended in glory from heaven.

2 Cor 5:16
"Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more."

Jesus Christ, who knew no sin, was made to be sin for us. God forgave the world of its trespasses through the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross.

2 Cor 5:21
"For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

2 Cor 5:19
"To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation."

Eph 1:7
"In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;"

The instructions we follow today are found in the thirteen epistles of Paul (Romans through Philemon) as were given directly to Paul from Jesus Christ in heaven for anyone living today who will believe.

1 Tim 4:10
"For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe."

If we are following Jesus Christ's earthly ministry to Israel then we are most likely placing our faith in our own carnal efforts for salvation and overlooking what Christ's death on the cross, burial, and resurrection means for us.

Jesus Christ was perfect FOR US. He lived a perfect life FOR US. His shed blood at Calvary was spilled FOR US. He rose from the grave on day three for OUR justification. We place our faith in Him, HIS work, and His shed blood that was spilled FOR US as our means of salvation. We are not capable of 'following Jesus' in the flesh. It is the whole purpose of Him coming into the world and giving His life for humanity that He loves. We humans are incapable of meeting the perfection requirements to be in the presence of God, but have a savior in Jesus Christ who met EVERY requirement of God on out behalf. It is HIS completed work on the cross that matters to God, and for us to believe this. It is what it means to have placed our faith in Jesus Christ.

1 Cor 15:1-4
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"

2 Cor 11:3
"But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ."
