No. Elisha had been chosen by God to replace Elijah. He was the spiritual successor who asked for a double portion of Elijah's spirit. See 2 Kings 2:9.

Deuteronomy 21:17 describes the meaning of a double portion. It was in ancient days the mark of the father's blessing. Elijah was Elisha's spiritual father.

In 2 Kings 8:10, Elisha had answered the question that Hazael was sent to ask. "Shall I die from this disease?"

Elisha said, "You will certainly recover."

Elisha, continued his answer to the servant Hazael, "However the Lord has shown me that he will really die."

ELisha did not lie. God had shown Elisha what was in the mind of that servant. It made Elisha weep!

The servant departed from Elisha and reported to Ben-Hadad, King of Syria. Elisha told me that you would surely recover.

The next day, Hazael murdered the King.

The servant did not tell him everything that Elisha had said. Elisha told him the truth.
