What does it mean, "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave his life for it"?

Ephesians 5:25

ESV - 25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

Although Jesus was sinless, and had done nothing to warrant His execution, He voluntarily subjected Himself to an undeserved death by crucifixion as a sacrifice for the forgiveness of the sins of all humanity, so that anyone who placed their faith in His death and subsequent resurrection (rather than in their own imperfect righteousness) could obtain that forgiveness, leading to eternal life in God's presence.

Christian husbands are to emulate Christ by loving their wives with that same kind of love, by seeking their best good, sacrificing for their benefit, and giving themselves to their wives wholeheartedly, to the point of being willing to die if required to demonstrate their love or save their wives from harm or death.
