Wisdom is better than wealth because it is not subject to the possibility of loss (as wealth is) and, in fact, is a quality that is of an eternal nature, rather than pertaining to strictly temporal concerns or purposes. Also, if wealth would happen to be lost, wisdom can help regain it, whereas wisdom itself cannot be bought.
