What do financial abilities have to do with spiritual responsibilities? (Luke 16:10–11)

10 “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much. 11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?

As noted in the verses cited in the question, integrity and care in financial dealings (although they may seem from a biased worldly perspective to outweigh spiritual responsibilities) nevertheless do give a valid indication of how much trust can be placed in an individual to address the much greater (in both importance and duration) matter of the eternal destiny of everyone on earth (including themselves).

As Jesus noted, if a person cannot be relied on to be honest or to possess integrity with merely temporal material wealth and resources, how could that person be trusted -- and why would/should trust (on either a human or divine level) be placed in that person -- with respect to far more valuable and lasting spiritual matters or guidance?
