I have a Syrian Jewish friend at work. He asked me this. He says, "I know you are a Christian man."

By my understanding, the word "Tanakh" is actually an acronym used in Judaism to denote the three components of the writings that Judaism regards as sacred. Torah (Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy) Nevi'im (Prophets) (Joshua, Judges, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, 12 Prophets (Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah, Micah, Nahum, Habakkuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, Zechariah, Malachi)) Ketuvim (Writings) (Psalms, Proverbs, Job, Song of Songs, Ruth, Lamentations, Ecclesiastes, Esther, Daniel, Ezra, Nehemiah, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles) These encompass all the writings contained in what non-Jews typically refer to as the "Old Testament".
