Why did the Lord Jesus tell the disciples to see if someone was worthy in Matthew 10:13?

13 And if the house is j worthy, let i your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let i your peace return to you.

Matthew 10:13

NKJV - 13 If the household is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.

The testimony of the twelve apostles was at stake. They were to visit homes who were reputable, worthy. They were delivering the truth of Jesus Christ.

When they went into a home they were to deliver a blessing. If the people were receptive, the home was worthy, because they welcomed God's words. Rejection of the apostles was like rejection of the blessing of God.

Matthew,10:34 - 42 describes all manner of acceptance of Christ. Christ must be ALL. He suffered for us. We must be willing to follow, come what may.
