The Charismatic Movement began with the apostles of Jesus Christ on the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit baptized them and they spoke in other tongues (see Acts 2:1-4). This promise WAS NOT limited to them, as is proven in Acts 2:38&39. I am a Spirit-filled believer of the Assembly’s of God, and do, indeed, have that same gift. I have also experienced the gift of healing personally in my congregation. Our church also ministers not only with the gift of tongues WITH interpretation but also the gift of prophesy, as well. One must use the WHOLE counsel of the Word before making any judgment calls about the Charismatic Movement.

As to the origin of the Charismatic Movement, it began 10 days after Jesus ascended into Heaven. The early church was Charismatic and it gradually died out due to the actions of the "orthodox church".
