Quotes from Catholic sources: (Pope John Paul II on December 9, 2000 said that) "All who live a just life will be saved, even if they do not believe in Jesus Christ and the Roman Catholic Church." Galatians 2:16 "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified." 

"There is no salvation apart from Christ and his One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church. Again, this is an infallible teaching and not up for debate". Acts 4:12 (speaking of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ) “Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

[About Protestants]: “You cannot separate rejecting the [Roman Catholic] Church from rejecting Christ according to Scripture and the teaching of the Catholic Church. In other words, one cannot just create his own religion and follow the “Jesus” of his own creation and choosing without there being eternal consequences."

[Again about Protestants] 818: "However, one cannot charge with the sin of the separation those who at present are born into these communities [that resulted from such separation] and in them are brought up in the faith of Christ, and the Catholic Church accepts them with respect and affection as brothers.... The Catholic Church is "the one true Church".

Much of what Catholics believe is the same as Protestants. But there are crucial differences. Two of which are these:

1. You need to be baptized to be saved. But the Bible says we are saved by grace alone, not works (Ephesians 2:4-9).

2. They revere Mary as a mediator between God and us. Then they pray to her. But the Bible says, “For there is one God, and there is one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,” (1 Timothy 2:5).
