What "little ones" was Jesus talking about? (Matthew 10:42)
42 And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones who is my disciple, truly I tell you, that person will certainly not lose their reward.” (NIV)
Matthew 10:40 - 42
ESV - 40 Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. 41 The one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person's reward.

The Greek word used (anglicized as "mikron", which is the root of many English terms denoting smallness) was commonly used at that time by rabbis (that is, Jewish religious teachers) to describe their students or followers. Jesus was similarly applying it to His followers, including those whom the "world" might consider the humblest or least important in purely human terms (such as age, learning, or social status).

“Us” means we are the ones that belong to him, the ones who tell others about the word that he died giving to us; he calls his children little ones. If you see a person who is in need of something and they believe his word and are telling it, that's a disciple; but the ones who harms one hair on our heads for doing it, he said they should put a millstone around their neck and cast themselves in the ocean, because there's no help for them. Plus they will be punished.
