Where (if at all) in the word of God does it say a man can continually be disobedient and still have the favor of God?
I have a friend who continues to be disobedient and claims that he has favor with God. Can you please show me some scripture to show this is true or untrue?

Nowhere! We hear this from a lot of people, especially if they've convinced themselves it’s okay because it’s what they do! They curse, cheat, steal, lie, commit atrocities (some in the name of the Lord). In fact, John 16:2 says, “They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God.” God amazingly forgives us over and over. He also knows the thoughts and intents of our hearts (Hebrews 4:12). Since we know He knows our hearts, He knows when we are full of it! Remember the Israelites all died in the desert because of sinful disobedience, and only Joshua and Caleb got to see the Promised Land. Read John 9:13-34 about the Pharisees and the blind man. God tells us to stop doing all the sinful things that we used to do (1 Corin. 15:340; stop letting corrupt words come from our mouths (Ephesians 4:29); stop stealing (Ephesians 4:28). 1 John says emphatically to stop sinning! God gives us instructions on how to live. If GOD knew we could not attain to these, He would not have told us to do them. I will end this with 1 John 3:4-10: “Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. 5 But you know that he appeared so that he might take away our sins. And in him is no sin. 6 No one who lives in him keeps on sinning. No one who continues to sin has either seen him or known him. 7 Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. 8 The one who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the devil’s work. 9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. 10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brother and sister.” Take heed!

Great question, Gregory! Romans 6:1-2 says just the opposite. See it in the Holman Christian Standard Bible -- 6:1 "What should we say then? Should we continue in sin so that grace may multiply? 2 Absolutely not! How can we who died to sin still live in it?" Sin hurts us. It cuts us. It ruins us. Sin destroys our relationships, our health, our finances, our marriages, our jobs, our longevity, our emotions, our psyche. Jeremy Myers
