How could Eutycus be dead if he had life in him?
Acts 20:9–10 especially. My problem is that verse nine says he was “taken up dead.” But in the very next verse, Paul said, “his life is in him.”
Acts 20:7 - 16
ESV - 7 On the first day of the week, when we were gathered together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the next day, and he prolonged his speech until midnight. 8 There were many lamps in the upper room where we were gathered.

In my opinion, Eutycus was indeed dead, but it was the grasp of the apostle Paul (as a channel of Paul's faith) that enabled him to speak of Eutycus as alive (as Jesus had spoken of Jairus' daughter as sleeping), and that that also miraculously restored Eutycus to life, recalling the earlier manner in which the prophets Elijah (1 Kings 17:21) and Elisha (2 Kings 4:34) had restored dead individuals to life by such physical contact with them.

His life was in him only subsequent to Paul performing the miracle (Acts 20:10), not preceeding this (Acts 20:9).
