1 John 4:3, "And every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of antichrist - which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world."

2 John 7,8 - "For many deceivers have gone out into the world who do not confess Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves that we do not lose those things we worked for, but that we receive full reward."

1 John 2:18, "Little children it is the last hour, as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour."

Daniel chapter 12 is told to shut up the words and seal the book. 12:8, "Although I heard, I did not understand. Then I said,
'My Lord, what shall be the end of these things?'"

Daniel 12:10 "Many shall be purified, made white, and refined, but the wicked shall do wickedly; and none of the wicked shall understand, but the wise shall understand."

1Thessalonians 5:1-11 "But concerning the times and the seasons brethren, you have no need that I should write to you....the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night....Therefore let us not sleep...but let us watch and be sober...For God did not appoint us to wrath..Therefore comfort each other and edify one another."

2 Thessalonians 2:3, "Let no one deceive you by any means; for that Day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed..." Notice the falling away comes first!

We won't know who The Antichrist is! We will not recognize him. We believers will be taken up to be with the Lord on the Day! AMEN, AMEN. I do not need to know!

BUT...this we do KNOW!

Deuteronomy 31:6, "Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you..."

Hebrews 13:5. "Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.'"

Matthew 24:42, "Watch therefore, for you do not know the hour (day) your Lord is coming."

Isaiah 40:31, "But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

Genesis 5:22, "...Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him."

Revelation 16:15, "Behold, I am coming as a thief. Blessed is He who watches, and keeps His garments, lest he walk naked and they see His shame."

Watch wait and hope.

I think you will find widespread agreement that we will know who the Antichrist (AC) is when he makes a covenant with "the many" for one week (Dan. 9:27). Most agree that this will be a peace covenant with the Jews for seven years. It will do two things that are required to complete the end times:

1. It will begin the 7 year period known as Daniel's 70th Week.
2. It will allow the Jews to rebuild their Temple.

Then, in the middle of Daniel's Week, the AC will put an end to the regular sacrifice, and "on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate." (Dan. 9:27). This person is the "man of lawlessness" or the "son of destruction" that is revealed in 2 Thess. 2:3. Many think this is a reference to the AC, but we already know who the AC is, 3.5 years prior. So, the only answer that makes any sense is the Son of Destruction will be the unveiling of the False Prophet.

I have studied prophecy for 42 years now, and I see a sign that will precede the signing of the covenant. In Dan. 9:26 it says of the AC, "the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood." The words, "come with a flood" is a way to describe war. This is evident in the earliest description of the AC:

Daniel 11:21-22 (NASB)
21 "In his place a despicable person will arise, on whom the honor of kingship has not been conferred, but he will come in a time of tranquility and seize the kingdom by intrigue.
22 "The overflowing forces will be flooded away before him and shattered, and also the prince of the covenant."

Most ascribe these verses to Antiochus IV Epiphanes, but if I'm correct, they describe a war between the AC and Israel, in which the Dome of the Rock is destroyed, and the leader of Israel is killed. The Dome of the Rock is the only 'sanctuary' presently on the Temple mount.

The antichrist will rise to prominence in the tribulation period, initially making a peace treaty with Israel (Daniel 9:27). See Craig Mcelheny's 2 comments here. Soon after, he will seek to dominate the world, double-cross and then attempt to destroy the Jews, persecute believers, and set up his own kingdom (Revelation 13). He will speak arrogant and boastful words in glorifying himself (2 Thessalonians 2:4). See Craig's answer about 2 Thess. 2:4 here, also. RR

❖ The most beloved disciple of Jesus defined who an Antichrist is.

Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. (1 John 2:22). The Jews and the Gnostics in particular denied the miraculous virgin birth of Jesus Christ. They considered Jesus, an ordinary/ common man, the son of Joseph and Mary (Mt. 13:55-57 Mk. 6:3).

During the era of Jesus, there were three false doctrines common in Judaism:
➊ That Jesus is not the Christ.
➋ That God is not the Father of Jesus.
➌ That Jesus is not the Son of God.

❖ In other words, Judaism recognizes (a False) Father as their God based on Pentateuch but denied Jesus as His son. Therefore Jesus was NOT their Christ or Messiah which they were hoping for. So John writes more vividly, "Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father". No man can be born again or be saved from sin who denies that Jesus is the Son and the Christ of God. He cannot know God or Christ (1Jn. 5:1; Mt. 1:21; Jn. 3:16; 14:6; 17:1-3).

❖ In the modern Christianity, the professing Christians recognized (a False) Jesus as God and Saviour but deny Father. The professing Christians even address their prayers directly to Jesus but deny Father. By doing so, they gain political power, resources and material blessings (wealth) abundantly in addition to their name and fame in the society which comes from devil (who is No. 1 Antichrist) as substitutes. These folks should have denied Satan i(world) instead of accumulating political power and wealth here on earth. God gives His blessings to His people but antichrists gain wealth through wrong means. The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. (Proverbs 10:22)

All false teachers and false prophets and their followers are antichrists too because of deceptions in spirit. The New Testament speaks of false prophets (Mt 24:24), false apostles (2 Cor 11:13), false brothers (Gal 2:4) and false teachers (2 Pet 2:1). We are called to test everything. "Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil" (1 Thess 5:21,22). The acid test of any doctrine is its fruit, outcome or result. "For a good tree does not bear bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. For every tree is known by its fruit" (Lk 6:43,44). We are not only to test the teaching but also the teachers. "Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the Word of God to you; whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct" (Heb 13:7).

❖ Now it the era of Holy Spirit, people should have proper discernments while dealing with the Spirit of Truth vs. Spirit in error. "Do not believe every spirit but test the spirits whether they are of God" (1 Jn 4:1). Seducing spirits and deceivers denied the incarnation (1Jn. 4:1-6). Today, they are denying the physical, fleshly resurrection of Jesus as well as the incarnation. The Greek here reads, "Jesus Christ coming in the flesh," proving that it refers to His physical resurrection and His coming again to earth in the flesh. He will come in the same human body that was resurrected and taken to heaven (Zech. 13:6 Acts 1:11; Php. 3:21; John 21:14; 1Cor. 15:1-23).

❖ For this reason Bible warns the people of God against "another Jesus" and "a different gospel" and "a different Spirit" (2 Cor 11:4).

The Pauline instruction in 1 Thessalonians 5:21,22 is conclusive:
❖ Analyze — all things!
❖ Accept — only good things!
❖ Avoid — all questionable things! Amen!
