Spiritual callings and gifting’s are so close in nature to your natural callings in life it’s funny. Case in point: I’m a helper in the body of Christ. I love people and I enjoy aiding them in ascertaining information for the advancement of their lives. I write books, I teach Sunday school class and I sing in various choirs, all of these things I enjoy (love doing) in the Body of Christ. Now, in my natural life I assist people in acquiring their dream homes, businesses etc. All the callings of God surround helping others for that is what we are put here to do, help, aid and assist others. So what you need to do is find the age group and the venue and begin testing the waters for your niche. More times than most trial and error will be that supporting factor in you figuring it out. However, jump right in and begin helping. Perhaps you have the gift of teaching--become a Sunday school teacher for a semester. Suppose you like and enjoy singing--then join the choir for a season. Perhaps you enjoy meeting new people. Then I suggest joining the Usher board. Now, not all people like working with people, they are the behind the scenes kind of people, still in the ministry of helps. There are a lot of administrative positions or work that need to be done. I’ve been affiliated with mega churches and people assume that they have all the help that they need. For the record, that is the wrong assumption. In all of my dealings with churches there is never enough help. I’ve worn many hats and still do. But back to the subject at hand there is a lot of administrative work that needs to be done. I would even suggest helping out at different food banks where they distribute food to the less fortunate. It would be fulfilling and rewarding. Whatever you decide just know that there is plenty of room for the word of God states “…the harvest is ripe however the laborers are few…” Matthew 9:37.

The bible says: Ask... Seek... and Knock. Whatever a man desires you know, he must seek for. Treasures are found beneath the earth and tireless searches lead men to the gold hidden beneath the earth. It is in this same way that men must engage in tireless searches for it is the glory of the king to conceal and the glory of men to seek. Ask and you shall receive, seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened to you. Mathew 7;7-8. You won't find what you have not sought.

The spiritual calling of every Christian is the same. We are to love God and love other people with all our body, soul, mind and strength. As we do this by faith in God's promises, God's presence and God's resources we will transform our world to be more like the place God intended it to be. In Matthew 5:7-10 Jesus gave us four ways to fulfill this calling: 1) Be merciful - that is to deliver God's blessings to everyone who needs them. 2) Be pure in heart - that is to reveal the character and presence of God to everyone we walk and talk with daily. 3) Be peacemakers - that is to help the people we know to make peace with God and with each other. 4) Be righteous - that is to advance the cause of God's goodness in our world and push back the presence of evil, no matter what the cost. When we carry out our calling within the context of the church, the Holy Spirit has given at least one spiritual gift to each Christian to enhance the effectiveness of our ministry to each other. Discovery of our spiritual gifts is often a process of experimentation. What I can confirm is that when I am using my gifts other people feel incredibly blessed by my ministry and my service seems effortless, joyful and deeply satisfying. It took me several years to discover my gifts - leadership, teaching, administration, intercessory prayer and prophecy - and I use all of them on a regular basis, often as a result of divine appointments arranged by God.

On the evening of His capture leading to His torture, death and resurrection, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ prayed that great High Priestly prayer for His Church recorded in John 17. He declares that the perfection for His Church is oneness with Himself and our Heavenly Father. The culmination of this union is found in verse 24: 'Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.' This communion is to be enjoined as a Bridegroom with His Bride on the basis of love (verse 26). Confirming this the Apostle Paul tells us what is the first and foremost calling of all Christians who are born again of the Spirit of God: found in Ephesians 1:4-12 and specifically in verses 9 and 10: Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself: That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: In whom also we have obtained an inheritance. God's good intent is to gather us together in Christ Who is the Head of His Body, the Church. To achieve this predestination of His will there has to be a consummation between the Bride and Bridegroom: a joining together to make them one. This scripture that gives us this information is found in Romans 8:29: For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. The critical point of our faith must be a close relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit. An obedient, compliance to the love bond between Him and His Church. To come to this we must understand His ways and the depth of the Covenant we have made together when we surrendered our life to Him. The outworking of His Holy Spirit in us will bring us to this place of absolute surrender. When we come into this relationship we realise that salvation is not just about us and our needs but serving the Master.Then we begin to ask not what God can do for us but what He wants to do through us. An earlier writer said that we only get what we seek for and that is the essence of all things that we come to in Christ. Seek Him while He may be found through prayer and waiting upon His word. Study the scripture and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you in bringing you into a full understanding of what salvation really is. He will then bring you into ministry that is led by Him and anointed by Him. We should not be going of doing our own thing in the hope and expectation that God will bless it. To finish where we started, the Lord Jesus Christ prayed that we should behold is Glory and be where He is. Living in heavenly places (in the Spirit) with Him. There are many great witnesses over the centuries whose lives were dramatically changed by beholding God's Glory. Men and women who changed the course of history by engaging with Almighty God: Abraham, Moses, Joshua, King David, Apostles Paul, Peter, James and John. Hebrews 11 gives us an insight into more. I implore you to abandon all else and seek the Lord Jesus Christ just for Himself because when you are counted as His friend you will have the greatest gift mankind could ask for. He is all we need. Jeremiah 29:13,14: And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. And I will be found of you, saith the Lord.

I believe that God uses what we're most interested in. I think he gives use desires and tools at the same time. For example, I love studying the end time prophecies and I love to give to others and help. When I do these things for his glory, I'm really good at it. If I try to do things that are out side of these areas I usually, fumble. I've tried witnessing about Gods love, and I'm just no good at it. So I think God gave me the other gifts because, I just flow naturally in those gifts, so it makes sense that they came from God, because he can use them. I think you sometimes have other callings that God just openly tells you about, when this calling happens you'll have no doubt, God will make himself loud and clear. He's so awesome.

How can I find my spiritual calling? The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, Ephesians 1:18 Even true believers greatly want heavenly wisdom. Are not the best of us unwilling to come under God's yoke, though there is no other way to find rest for the soul? Do we not for a little pleasure often part with our peace? And if we dispute less, and prayed more with and for each other, we should daily see more and more what is the hope of our calling, and the riches of the Divine glory in this inheritance. It is desirable to feel the mighty power of Divine grace, beginning and carrying on the work of faith in our souls. But it is difficult to bring a soul to believe fully in Christ, and to venture its all, and the hope of eternal life, upon his righteousness. Nothing less than Almighty power will work this in us. Here is signified that it is Christ the Saviour, who supplies all the necessities of those who trust in him, and gives them all blessings in the richest abundance. And by being partakers of Christ himself, we come to be filled with the fulness of grace and glory in him. How then do those forget themselves who seek for righteousness out of him! This teaches us to come to Christ. And did we know what we are called to, and what we might find in him, surely we should come and be suitors to him. When feeling our weakness and the power of our enemies, we most perceive the greatness of that mighty power which effects the conversion of the believer, and is engaged to perfect his salvation. Surely this will constrain us by love to live to our Redeemer's glory. Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 2 Timothy 1:9 It is not enough to assent to the sound words, but we must love them. The Christian doctrine is a trust committed to us; it is of unspeakable value in itself, and will be of unspeakable advantage to us. It is committed to us, to be preserved pure and entire, yet we must not think to keep it by our own strength, but by the power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in us; and it will not be gained by those who trust in their own hearts, and lean to their own understandings.
