Christian meditation is a life-long process of reading, listening, studying, applying and doing to fulfil the will of God in our lives. Christian meditation is never just spiritual reflection, it always includes doing the works that God has prepared for us, to complete his plan and purpose for our lives.

Here are some suggestions, using a specific scripture passage to meditate on.

2 Corinthians 9:10-11
"Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God."

From my experience, the best way to learn and apply new knowledge is to ask interrogative questions [like a trained journalist] and then test or verify the answers to determine the truth. The person whom we interview, or ask the questions, is the Holy Spirit. Why, because he has all the answers. He is the keeper of all truth that God has revealed for human beings to know. We test or verify the answers by applying them or putting them into practice in our lives to see if the result is the truth, what the Holy Spirit said would happen.

I will provide just a few examples of the questions we want to ask the Holy Spirit. We can have an amazing adventure coming up with the questions we want answered from the passages we've decided to meditate on.

WHO
Who will receive the seed that I scatter today?
Who can I be generous to today?

WHAT
What is the seed that "this person" needs today?
What will the harvest of righteousness be today?

WHERE
Where will I go to sow my seed today?
Where will I be able to be generous today?

WHEN
When will I know that the harvest is ready for reaping?
When will I be enriched so I can be generous?

WHY
Why does God provide me with this specific seed to sow?
Why will people give thanks to God because of my generosity?

HOW
How will God supply and increase my store of seed?
How will God enable me to be generous on "every" occasion?

Sometimes the Holy Spirit will answer our questions as we are performing the work of the kingdom, as we seek to Love God and Love People, the Spirit will show us the answers through our interactions and the circumstances of our daily life. That is why it is so important to think about the scripture throughout the day and then reflect on what has happened at the end of the day; so we don't miss the Spirit's answer or revelation. The best way to think about the Scripture throughout the day is to MEMORISE it and RECITE it in our minds several times a day. The best way to REFLECT is to set some time aside at the end of the day [before falling asleep], to think about what has happened during the day and how God has been involved in our life.

Let's not try to focus on too much scripture to meditate on. The Holy Spirit knows we can only grow one bite at a time, so let's not try to stuff in too much spiritual food or we'll just get sick.
