Mephibosheth lived in exile from the king but was remembered because of a covenant (1 Sam. 20:14, 15; 2 Sam. 9:3, 4).

(It was the Kindness of God -- 2 Sam. 9:3; Tit. 3:4) that brought
the king and the cripple together. Isn’t that what brings God the King and the sinner together?

HOW DAVID SOUGHT MEPHIBOSHETH (2 Samuel 9:1-5) is brought out here.

Mephibosheth was favored—shown in the phrase, ‘that I (David) may show him (Mephibosheth) kindness’ (2 Sam. 9:3)
He was friendless—he was “of the house of Saul” (2 Sam. 9:1)—enemies of David.
He was famished—in Lo-debar, place of no pasture 2 Sam. 9:4

M was called into the king’s presence and exalted because of the merits of another (2 Sam. 9:5, 7).

He was fetched—King David sent and fetched him. 2 Sam. 9:5 This was a kindness the king showed to Mephibosheth
(and incidentally to Hanun, too -- 2 Sam. 9:1,7; 10:2; Jer. 31:3).

This all pictures the Son of Man coming to seek and to save the lost (you and me).
