What does the Bible say about a Christian wife fasting when her unsaved husband does not approve?
I'm saved and my husband is not. He doesn't want me to go on a fast. Should I do it anyway?

While you are to obey your husband, that only goes as far as he is obeying God. Fasting is a biblical principle, if not a command, and I don't see a problem with you fasting anyways. As Evan said, share some of the benefits of fasting with him. I don't know if this is your case, but I have heard of people using fasting as an excuse for anorexia. "I feel fat, and fasting is Biblical, so I'll just starve myself." I want to stress that that is NOT biblical, and even when fasting you need to take care of your body. If this isn't the case with you, I'm sorry. I don't mean to jump to any conclusions, but I wanted to cover that just in case.

Something you might consider is researching and sharing with him the physiological health benefits of fasting. Since he’s not a believer, I imagine that he’s unlikely to respond to biblical rationale for fasting, but spiritual implications of fasting (which are incredibly profound) notwithstanding, many people fast simply because the physical health benefits are astonishing. It’s the only way to TRULY comprehensively detoxify the body. Many “incurable” disease processes simply disappear with fasting, especially prolonged fasting. Given that it’s one of the healthiest things that someone could do (from time to time), more people would do it if they knew what they’d get out of it. Studies showing the connection of fasting to autophagy and cellular regeneration are particularly fascinating. Anyway, perhaps he might respond more favorably to more “scientific” data. I hope this helps...
