What does it mean that the Lord is "my portion"? (Lamentations 3:24)

I say to myself, “The Lord is my portion;
therefore I will wait for him.” (KJV)
Lamentations 3:24
ESV - 24 "The Lord is my portion," says my soul, "therefore I will hope in him."
