God is gracious to us because He loves us. Before the world was completed He planned our salvation.

Think of Adam and Eve and the fall. God did not reject them. He could have! Genesis 4:21, "Also for Adam and his wife Eve the Lord God made tunics of skin, and He clothed them." This is symbolic of the sacrifice that Jesus made on the cross. The blood covered their sins. They were restored to glory. 

When we accept Jesus into our hearts, we are restored to glory.

Genesis 6:8, "But Noah found Grace in the eyes of the Lord." Why? Because He listened to God and believed God.

Psalm 34:9,10, "Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints!... those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing." To fear God means to respect and respond to Him.

God will bless and protect those who call upon His name. Time and again God gives good gifts to His people.

God has promised to never leave or forsake us. He is our helper. Hebrews 13:5,6

In Exodus 3:18 Moses asked God to show His glory to Him. God's glory can be defined as His presence and His Mercy. It is an experience of the power of God in a new way. The people in the wilderness saw and felt the power of God.

We too live in a wilderness of our own. But we can experience the glory of God by our faith. He is near to anyone who asks.

In Jesus' name we have been clothed in righteousness by Jesus' shed blood. AMEN, we are glorified.

Jane, you've asked a good question! "Spiritual glory Is given by God, Psa. 84:11; is given by Christ, John 17:22; and it is the work of the Holy Spirit, 2 Cor. 3:18." --Nave's Topical Bible

Many English translations render the word "glory" as "honor." I like how the Amplified Bible, Classic Edition puts it, AMPC --

"For the Lord God is a Sun and Shield; the Lord bestows [present] grace and favor and [future] glory (honor, splendor, and heavenly bliss)! No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly."

I remember memorizing this verse early after I'd become a Christian from a Bible my grandmother gave me when her son, my Uncle Dick, passed, the Thompson Chain Reference Bible.

I think, Jane, that one of the things this future glory would include would be a glorified body! Won't that be nice? No more pain!

The Hebrew word (rendered as "kabowd" in English characters) that is translated as "glory" in the verse and translation of the Bible cited in the question appears 200 times in Scripture, as noted at https://biblehub.com/hebrew/strongs_3519.htm. It is most commonly translated as either "glory" or "honor". It is also rendered in various verses as "splendor", "wealth", and "riches".

It can be used to refer to God's glory, but it can also refer to more general types of blessings or honor that a person my receive (not only from God, but from other people) in his or her earthly life, based on affluence, social status, or in recognition of the person's character. The Bible's description of a person receiving glory in that way does not reflect the idea that the individual is somehow usurping something that belongs only to God, but is speaking of other types of blessing or acknowledgement as a result of the earhtly, material, or personal characteristics just mentioned.

In addition, I would say that God gives spiritual glory to Christians by progressively conforming them throughout their earthly lives to be more and more like Jesus (Romans 8:29), who possesses the fulness of God's glory (John 1:14; Colossians 1:19; Colossians 2:9).

I think God gives us his glory in at least 5 different ways.

1. Through creation
God made human beings very good. We are a little lower than the angels. God gave us incredible adaptable, self-healing bodies. He gave us a mind, will and emotions just like he has. He gave us a spirit just like he has (Genesis 2:4-25).

2. Our Transformation at Conversion
Our personal testimony of the transformation from slavery in sin to freedom in Christ gives great glory to God and we share that glory (Acts 26:4-25).

3. We are Ambassadors for Christ
God has partnered with us to share the gospel message with the world. We have been entrusted with the most important message ever given. When people hear the gospel and believe in Jesus, God is glorified and we share his glory (2 Corinthians 5:20).

4. Our ministry to People’s Needs
As we minister to people’s needs, the Holy Spirit will use us to deliver miracles of healing and deliverance just like Jesus did. God will be glorified and we will share that glory (Acts 5:12-16).

5. Recreated in the Image of Jesus
As the Holy Spirit moulds and shapes our character as a new creation, people will begin to see Jesus when they look at us. Jesus will be glorified and we will share that glory (2 Corinthians 3:18).

We must remember that we are never permitted to take glory for ourselves that rightfully belongs to God, but we can accept it with thanksgiving when God chooses to share it with us.
