One interpretation that I have seen with regard to the naming of these two specific stones relates to their being symbolic of the tribes of Israel (and, by extension, of the entire body of believers) from the beginning of its history until its end. Their mention in connection with the appearance of the One seated on the throne has a symbolism similar to the reference of the glorified Christ to Himself in Revelation 22:13 as "the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End."
