To me, the two most prominent Biblical sources with regard to writings on friendlessness are the Psalms, as well as the book of Job.

As the primary author of the psalms, David experienced occasions when he felt forsaken by humans and even by God, some of which (such as Psalm 22) were even prophetic of future events such as Jesus' crucifixion. And Job experienced the loss of all his family members, possessions, and even his health. Even the individuals who came to console him in his affliction largely tried to show him that he was somehow responsible for his own sufferings, to the point where Job called them "miserable comforters" (Job 16:2).

Specific verses in these two books and elsewhere that speak of friendlessness include:

Psalm 31:11-12
Psalm 38:11
Psalm 88:8
Psalm 142:4
Isaiah 53:3
Jeremiah 20:10

However, even in such abject circumstances, many of the larger passages from which the verses above were drawn also speak of God as a source of continuing comfort or strength.
