Why did David seem so proud of his humility (Psalm 131:1)?

"My heart is not proud, Lord,
    my eyes are not haughty;
I do not concern myself with great matters
    or things too wonderful for me." (NIV)

Psalms 131:1

ESV - ¹ O Lord, my heart is not lifted up; my eyes are not raised too high; I do not occupy myself with things too great and too marvelous for me.
