Was Barak, who is mentioned in Judges 4, a judge?

NKJV - 1 When Ehud was dead, the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD. 2 So the LORD sold them into the hand of Jabin king of Canaan, who reigned in Hazor. The commander of his army was Sisera, who dwelt in Harosheth Hagoyim.

By my reading of the book of Judges, Barak was not a judge, but a military leader. He was associated with the judge Deborah, a prophetess who judged Israel for forty years (commonly regarded as 1280-1240 BC). Deborah was the one who informed Barak of God's command that he fight against Sisera, who was the commander of the army of Jabin, the king of Canaan, as noted in Judges 4:2. Barak said that he would do it only if Deborah would accompany him. Deborah told him that she would go with him, but that it would result in the credit for Sisera's defeat being given to a woman, rather than to Barak. And, ultimately, although Barak won the military victory, it was, in fact, a woman (Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite) who killed Sisera by driving a tent peg through his skull as he slept in her tent, as noted in Judges 4:16-24.
