Thamar is not only referred in Ruth but also listed as one of the Four women in the genealogy of Jesus Christ. Mt Chapter 1.

► Rahab and Ruth were Gentiles.
► Tamar and Bathsheba were Jews.

Thus Christ descended from both Jews and Gentiles. Rahab was a harlot (Jas. 2:25). Both Tamar and Bathsheba committed adultery (Gen. 38; 2Sam. 11:1-5). Ruth was a pure woman (Ruth 3:11).

Genesis 38 tells the story of Tamar who Judah took to be the wife of his firstborn son, Er. It is very interesting reading and rather than me spoil the story please read it for yourself.

I will say that this account is conclusive evidence that "For there is no respect of persons with God." (Romans 2:11). If you read Matthew 1 Verse 3 shows that Tamar, spelled Thamar and Ruth in verse 5 are listed in the genealogy. Wow! What a pedigree!
