Why do so many of us still struggle with temptation and desires to sin if we're not controlled by our sinful nature anymore?

Romans 8:9

NLT - 9 But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)

Temptations in part are those fiery darts the enemy is throwing our way as scripture remains us of a spiritual battle that is waging aganist believers. Eph 6:16 "In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one."
The key is knowing Christ has defeated Satan, Col 2:15. We are to wear our spiritual armor, know the schemes of the enemy and keep him at bay by using our only offensive weapon, prayer.
