I would say that the primary means by which God guides us are 1) by His expressed will and commands as contained in the Bible; 2) by indications of His will as given through events and in response to prayer; 3) through the counsel of others (especially fellow Christians) whom we know and trust; and 4) by shielding us or steering us away (including in ways we may never realize or know of in this life) from influences or circumstances that would be detrimental to either our spiritual or physical well-being.
