Reference is made to the child Jesus and when Herod tried to kill Jesus, children that were two years and under were targeted. The Greek word translated as child refers to an infant. Matthew 2:16 Then Herod, when he saw that he had been tricked by the wise men, became furious, and he sent and killed all the male children in Bethlehem and in all that region who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had ascertained from the wise men.

Speaking from my background in church the most common things people mistakenly think are in the bible but are in fact not: The age of accountability or children getting a free pass to heaven. (Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,) The sinners prayer as a component of salvation. (Acts 2:38 Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins) Making "decisions" for Jesus as a component of salvation. (John 1:13...not born of the will of man, but of God.) Making Jesus "Lord and Savior" of your life as a component of salvation. (Jesus is already Lord and Savior whether we recognize him as such or not. Rev 5:13 To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!) "It's not a religion it's a relationship." (James 1:27 Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.) Dedicating or rededicating your life to Jesus. (Eph 2:8 For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, Phil 1:6 he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion...) Baptism being a work (the bible speaks of baptism as something done to you (passive), not something you do). Being missional or purpose driven or a world changer. (1 Thes 4:11...aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you...) Seeker churches or being seeker-sensitive. (Rom 3:11 no one understands; no one seeks for God.)

The Trinity Although I believe the doctrine is fairly correct - The Father is in the Son, and the Son is in the Father, and the Spirit of God is everywhere - there is no actual verse in the bible that say the three are one. We're encouraged to worship the Father and to worship the Son. Interestingly, I haven't found a reference for where we are encouraged to worship the Holy Spirit. However, the Holy Spirit does indeed inspire people to worship the Father and the Son. Further to that, in the book of revelation there's the throne - with the Father and the Son sitting on it. Rev 22:3 "And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him". In the King James Version there is a reference in 1 John 5:7 - For there are three that bear record in Heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. However, there's no evidence of those words being present in the original Greek manuscripts.

My personal favourite: "The sun always shines on the righteous" - Along with "Red sky at night, shepherd's delight..." Both of which are pretty much the direct opposite of what we actually read in the Bible!

Christians (and just about everyone else) says “God loves everyone!” So let’s see what God had to say about the people who were the inhabitants of the Promised Land that God’s children were about to take over. The Promised Land was inhabited by the Canaanites, the Sidonians and the other descendants of theirs, the Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, Arvadites, Zemarites, and the Hamathites? Also the Philistines, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Jebusites, the Elamites, the Philistines, the Kerethites, the Pathrusites, the Casluhites, and the Caphtorites? Let’s see what God did to those people. Exodus 23:23: “For my angel will go before you and bring you into the land of the Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Canaanites, Hivites, Jebusites... And I will destroy them completely.” Jeremiah 49:37: “The enemies [of the Elamites] will chase them with the sword until I [God] have destroyed them completely.” Eze 25:16: “Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will raise my fist of judgment against the land of the Philistines, (the Kerethites, Pathrusites, Casluhites, and the Caphtorites.) I will wipe them out and utterly destroy the people who live by the sea.” How about the Egyptians? What did He do to them? Exodus 14:17: “And I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians, and they will charge in after the Israelites. My great glory will be displayed through Pharaoh and his troops, his chariots, and his charioteers.” Hebrews 11:29: “….they [Pharaoh and his troops, his chariots, and his charioteers] were all drowned.” God loved His children so much that those who were not His children and were in the way of His children were eradicated. God loves HIS children, but not the children of the devil. Psalm 11:5-6: “The LORD tests the righteous, but His soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence. Let Him rain coals on the wicked; fire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be the portion of their cup.” Deut. 32:41: "If I whet My glittering sword, and My hand takes hold on judgment, I will render vengeance to My enemies, And repay those who hate Me." Proverbs 16:4 & 5: "The LORD has made all for Himself, Yes, even the wicked for the day of doom. Everyone proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; Though they join forces, none will go unpunished." Proverbs 6:16-19: "These six things the LORD hates, Yes, seven are an abomination to Him: A proud look, A lying tongue, Hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that are swift in running to evil, A false witness who speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren." Romans 9:13: "As it is written, ‘Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.’” Why did God hate Esau? Because he was not a child of the promise.
