Edenic; Genesis 1:26-3:24 This was made with Adam and Eve before the fall and was conditional upon obedience. (2:17)
Adamic; Genesis 3:14-19 This agreement was made with Adam and Eve after the fall and before the expulsion from the garden. It ushered in the Dispensation of Conscience; 
Cainic; Gen 4:11-15, This was a pledge to Cain of vengeance on anyone who found him and killed him
Noahic; Gen 8:20-9:29, This contract was made with Noah and the beasts of the field after the flood and ushered in the
Abrahamic Gen 12:1-3 This was made with Abraham after the confusion of tongues when God saw that it was impossible to deal with the race as a whole. It ushered in the Dispensation of Promise Gen 13:14-18, 15:1-21, 17:4-8, 22:15-18, 26:1-5, 28:3, 10-15
Hagaric Genesis 16:7-14 This was a covenant made with Hagar concerning her seed through Ishmael, Abraham’s son. 
Sarahic (17:15-19, 18:9-15) This covenant made with Sarah, promised certain blessing to her and her offspring, Isaac, for many generations. 
Healing Ex 15:26, 23:25 This was made with Israel and all who desired or chose to come under the covenant of God as given to Moses. 
Mosaic or Old Covenant; also called the Old Testament (Ex 20:1-24, 2 Cor 3:6-18)
Levetic (Num 25:10-14) This was given through Moses to Phinehas, the son of Levi, who was zealous for the Lord and executed judgment 
upon rebels (Num 25:1-9)
Palestinian (Lev 26, Dt 11:8-32, 27:1-30:2) This covenant was made with Israel through Moses and was conditioned upon the obedience of 
the nation. 
Salt (Lev 2:13, Num 18:19) A covenant made with Israel concerning the sacrifices they were to offer forever. In Palestine and surrounding countries salt was used in making covenants; and if persons ate food with salt in it, together, they became friends though they may have been enemies before. The Arab expression is, “There is salt between us,” or “He has eaten of my salt,” which means partaking of the hospitality which cements friendship. Covenants were generally confirmed at sacrificial meals and salt was always present. The covenant of salt pictured the everlasting friendship between God and His people. (Num 18:19, Mk 9:49-50, Col 4:6)
Davidic (2 Sam 7:1-17) This agreement was made with David and his house through Nathan the prophet, and was conditioned upon obedience as all other covenants. It was to be an everlasting covenant, containing 7 blessings
New Covenant (Matt 26:28, 2 Cor 3:6-18) This is the one made by Christ (Heb 8:6). It is still in force and includes all the terms, conditions, commands, promises and benefits revealed in 27 books of the Bible-all of Matthew through Revelation
Ten steps on covenant making
Exchange of Robes - Jesus took our robe of flesh we are to take his robe of righteousness
Exchange of Belts: This is symbolic of exchange of strengths and weaknesses
Exchange of Weapons: This is symbolic of the covenant friends holding in common one another’s enemies. 
The Sacrifice -the splitting of the animals bodies. Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sins. A woman's membrane is broken in the consummation of the marriage covenant. 
Walk of Blood or Walk of Death - The covenant friends would walk a figure eight around the pieces. The symbolized that they have died to their rights and that they now live for their covenant partner
Striking of Hands - illustrations of Wrist cutting, blood brothers. Taking oath in court of law. Indians in greeting raised their hands. Our own handshake came from this step of covenant making. Jesus hands were pierced on the cross
Oath of Blessings and Curses - The covenant friends would read aloud their resources, riches and wealth and it would be recorded. They would bless one another with their resources and then they would pronounce curses upon each other for transgression of the covenant. 
The Seal of the Covenant - They would stain the wound on their wrist. The seal would be visible. It is a symbol and outward sign to the world that you are in covenant. It is an outward sign of an inward commitment, Circumcision. The seal of our covenant is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. 
Exchange of Names - God is known as the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. We are known as Christians
Covenant Meal - bread would be dipped in wine and fed to each other symbolic of the taking of the others life into yourself.

All the covenants are under grace except Mosaic covenant which is under Law. Stand in the liberty by which Christ has made us free. There is no protocol with God, when you tabernacle with God. Christ is your title deed. That why you are called Christians. You are not your own. You have been purchased by the precious blood of Jesus. The law has no hold over you anymore. Under the covenant of Law man works for God. That is why Law very clearly states that `you shall not …. you, you shall not you shall (Ex.20:3-17). The focus is on you working. Under grace God works. That is why in reference to the new covenant,God said `I will… I will…(Heb.8:8-12). You rest in His `I will’ as He works in you. Through you and for you. Today the question is how do we rest in His `I wiils’ on a practical basis and see the Lord doing what He wants to do in our lives?

A covenant is when a person says, "I am yours, you are mine." It is an exchange of persons, as compared to a contract, which is an exchange of goods, "This is yours, that is mine." 

A covenant with God is an event when God takes Man and makes a pact with him, saying "I am your God, you are my people." A single man usually acting as high priest, becomes a representative of God's people.

First time this happened was on the 7th day of Genesis, the first Sabbath, with Adam as high priest, representing the entire human race - at that time was only 2 people.

Second time it happened was after the flood, with Noah as representative of God's people - at that time was a family of eight.

3rd time was with Abraham, the family grew into a tribe. 4th time was with Moses, the tribe has become a nation. 5th time was with David, the nation has become a national kingdom.

Sixth time it happened was with Jesus, acting as high priest, representing God's people - not only the nation kingdom of Israel but the entire world.

The covenant in the bible I specifically want to look at is the everlasting covenant. The Lord made a "Everlasting Covenant" with Abraham and with the children of Israel. Please read Psalms 105:8-12. This Everlasting covenant involved the ten commandments because if you read Genesis 26:15 it's clear what God said concerning Abraham about keeping His commandments. Here are some other verses regarding this Everlasting Covenant. Gen 17:7,13; 2 Sam 23:5; 1 Chron 16:17; Is 55:3.

The Law of God was the basis of this covenant which was arranged at Mount Sinai. In Deut 8:11,18; Deut 29:1,13 God asks Israel to keep this covenant. You must read Ex 19, but look at verse 8 and also the confirmation of the covenant in Ex 24:1-3 and in verse 8 Moses uses blood to seal the covenant. But of course we know Israel couldn't keep it. Read Romans 9:30-32 and here are other verses showing the Everlasting Covenant being broken by Israel. Isaiah 24:4,5; Jer 11:10; 22:9; 31:32 Now the Lord announces to Jeremiah the prophet that He will make a new covenant with the house of Israel in Jeremiah 31. The Lord even announces it through Isaiah in Is 42:6 which will be done through Jesus Christ and also this "New Covenant" which is still the everlasting covenant was confirmed by Jesus Christ in Daniel 9:27 and met in anti-type when Jesus came to this earth read Luke 22:20. Testament means "covenant" and God will now write it (through the Holy Spirit) 2 Cor 3:3 in the hearts and minds of His people and not on stone.

So now why is the New Covenant more effective than the First Covenant? Well, because the difference of what happened in Mount Sinai and what happened on Calvary. On Calvary enters the lamb of God, not the Law of God. The LAW OF GOD WAS NOT DONE AWAY WITH. But because of what happened to Jesus it shows that the Law of God was transgressed not by Jesus but by His people and Christ took our death, which we deserve, so that we can have His life. And because of His life, death, and resurrection we can have life. He will give us the Holy Spirit if we only just ask him and surrender our will to Him, then He can write the New Covenant in us, which is also in connection with His seal (Neh 9:38) and I pray the Holy Spirit gives you the knowledge and truth you need to live by His word.
