ESV - 15 But if the unbelieving partner separates, let it be so. In such cases the brother or sister is not enslaved. God has called you to peace.

I would say, first, that, ideally, husbands and wives would stay married for life, working through issues and betrayals even as serious as adultery. However, although God says that He hates divorce (Malachi 2:16), He speaks as unfavorably of a wife's betrayal of her husband as of a husband's betrayal of his wife, as indicated by many passages in which God likens His relationship to Israel to that of a husband to an unfaithful wife.

That orientation, along with the teaching stated by Jesus in Matthew 5:32 and Matthew 19:9, would, in my view, give a husband whose wife has committed adultery the same prerogatives and freedom from a Christian standpoint as those granted to a wronged wife. That would be reinforced by Paul's statement in Galatians 3:28 that, in Christ, there is no male or female with respect to salvation.

(Although Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 7:11 that a wife who separated from her husband, and who could not be reconciled to him, should remain single, and even claimed that he was speaking on the Lord's behalf in that regard, this was not stated as a firm commandment (as indicated by the use of the words "should", and "let her" rather than "must"), and Paul also did not cite any specific scriptural basis for his position, nor did he extend his analogy to the case of a wronged husband.)

Certainly, The question is: Why would you? My wife did this to me as I traveled for work.

It has been a blessing for me to remain single, as now I can truly be me in Christ.

If you are single, stay single. No longer double-minded. Much easier to be single-minded.
