Who was talking to Daniel 10:12-13?

Daniel 10:12 - 14

NKJV - 12 Then he said to me, "Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. 13 But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia.

I believe it was possibly the angel Gabriel. See Daniel 8:15-27; 9:20-27. Only Gabriel and Michael are specifically mentioned in the Old and the New Testaments.

I encourage you to continue reading God's Word, and ask the Holy Spirit to give you wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth, and has been sent to lead and guide us into all truth.

In my opinion, more than one speaker is indicated in Daniel 10:5-21.

The Being mentioned in Daniel 10:5-9 was the pre-incarnate Christ.

The being referenced in the question, with whom Daniel dealt in Daniel 10:10-14, was an angel of an order lower than an archangel, since that being speaks both of having been sent to Daniel (that is, obeying the command of a superior), and also of requiring the archangel Michael's assistance in overcoming the opposition of the prince of the kingdom of Persia.

The Being speaking in Daniel 10:16-21 was once again the pre-incarnate Christ, as indicated by:

1) the reference to His having the likeness of the sons of men (Daniel 10:16) and to His "having the appearance of a man" (Daniel 10:18) (similar to the reference to Him as "a man" in Daniel 10:5);

2) that Being referring to fighting against the prince of Persia in His own power (as indicated by His reference in Daniel 10:20 to the time "when I am through with him", and to the indication in Daniel 10:21 that Michael would be fighting "by [His] side" (that is as a co-warrior), rather than from a need for Michael's assistance); and

3) that Being also referring to awareness of what is inscribed in the book of truth, which implies esoteric knowledge that only God would possess.
