In my opinion, the words "him" and "his" in the cited verse are clearly referring to Christ (God the Son), and the authority given to Christ by God the Father (described in the passage as "the Ancient of Days"). For me, this interpretation is strengthened by the reference in the preceding verse (Daniel 7:13) to the recipient of the authority as a "son of man", which was a title that Jesus applied to Himself multiple times in the gospels (and not just as "a son of man" (which could apply to any human male), but as "THE Son of Man", which was unique to Christ as a Being both truly and fully God and also truly and fully human (except without sin)).

(In addition, the son of man is described in Daniel 7:13 as "coming with the clouds of heaven", which were the same words Jesus used before the Sanhedrin in Matthew 26:64 and Mark 14:62 to refer to His return at the close of the present age.)

Daniel 7:14 is widely understood to be talking about Jesus Christ. The verse states:

"And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed." (Daniel 7:14, KJV)

Reasons This Refers to Christ:

The "Son of Man" Title – Jesus frequently referred to himself as the "Son of Man" (e.g., Matthew 26:64, Mark 14:62), aligning himself with the figure in Daniel 7.

Coming with the Clouds of Heaven – The imagery of coming with the clouds (Daniel 7:13) is echoed in Jesus' own words about his return (Matthew 24:30, Revelation 1:7).

Everlasting Kingdom – The dominion described in Daniel 7:14 is eternal, which matches prophecies about the Messiah's reign (Isaiah 9:7, Luke 1:33).

New Testament Affirmation – The vision in Daniel 7 is directly referenced in the New Testament in relation to Jesus (e.g., Matthew 26:64, where Jesus says, "Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.").

While Daniel 7:14 ultimately speaks of God's sovereignty, it does so through the messianic figure of the "Son of Man," who receives authority from the Ancient of Days (God the Father). In Christian theology, this points to Jesus Christ, who is given all authority in heaven and on earth (Matthew 28:18).

Daniel 7:14: And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

God the Father’s wisdom and might for His creation of mankind are in His hands. He gives to the wise, who then have the understanding to reveal His word that comes to pass. Daniel had a great heart of vision and discernment, for he was a mouthpiece of God revealing His secrets. Daniel's dreams and visions were given and revealed to him by God the Father in heaven. (Dan 2:19-22,28) In the Ancient of days, the Lord appeared unto Abraham as the three angels that stood by him, “For He was the Angel of God the Father whose name was in Him.” (Gen 18:1-2/Exo 23:21/Joh 8:56) Lord God revealed unto Daniel in a dream of his vision that he saw, when the thrones of the four great beasts were cast down and as the “Ancient of days did sit,” who came with the clouds of heaven whose garment was white as snow, standing in fiery flame as in the time of Moses. (Exo 3:2-4/Dan 7:1-10)

Lord Jesus has the dominion and the everlasting dominion of God’s creation and nations which shall not be destroyed. The judgment that will be set and the books that shall be opened are for the ones who are set to be Raptured and to be with the thousands that minister unto Him and stand before Him. (Dan 7:9-10,13) Lord Jesus shall come in the clouds of Heaven as was to the Ancient of His days and shall descend from heaven with His archangels with their trumpets. For those who are dead in Christ shall rise and which are alive shall be caught up together with them in the clouds and shall be as angels in heaven. (1 Thes 4:15-17/Mat 24:30/Mark 12:25) The fourth beast then shall rise and shall be from Gog the land of Magog, who then shall have the nations assembled who then shall devour the whole earth. (Eze 38:2,7,16/Dan 7:23)

Daniel's “Dreams and Visions” had come to pass, for the fourth beast that was in the land, the Roman Empire ruling during the Lord's time. (Dan 7:7,11-12) The rest of the beasts and their dominion were taken over for a season and a time that will be set for them during the end times. For then a fourth beast from the generations of Noah’s sons Japeth who were Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech, and Tiras who shall be from the scattered nation shall devour the whole earth. (Gen 10:2/Eze 38:2-6) The nations that shall rise to battle, when the city shall be taken, and the house riffled the Lord Jesus shall come down and stand on the mount of Olives which is before Jerusalem. The mountains shall depart, and those who are left shall flee to the mountain's valley for the Lord God shall come with all the saints and be with them. For He shall be the King all over the earth and there shall be one Lord and His name one. (Zec 14:2-5,9,11/Dan 7:27)

Zechariah 14:9: And the Lord shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one Lord, and his name one.
