When is suffering the will of God?

Is suffering really part of God’s will for our lives?

1 Peter 4:19

NKJV - 19 Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator.

Suffering can be used to build you up. Look at Romans 5:3-4. Suffering produces perseverance, which in turn builds you up in other key areas. Suffering is also something you must be willing to endure as a Christian. Jesus says in Matthew 16:24: “If anyone should come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross and follow me.” If you want to be a disciple of Christ, you must be willing to suffer as He did. There are many reasons why God allows us to suffer.
