According to I Cor 15 and other passages like Jn 6:40, the righteous dead are raised and given new spiritual bodies at the sounding of the "last trumpet." While the exact timing is unclear, the sequence that follows would seem to be: - Christ's Second coming, as He descends to the lower clouds with the newly resurrected dead (I Cor 15:23, I Thess 4:13-18) - The living will meet Christ in the lower clouds (I Thess 4:13-18, I Cor 1:7-8) - Those on the Earth will mourn when they see Him (Rev 1:7) - Jesus will descend with his army to Earth (Acts 1:11, Zech 14:4) - Judgement/The Last Day will begin (Matt 16:27) - The Earth and Heavens will be destroyed (II Pet 3:10-13) - The New Jerusalem descends to the new Earth (Rev 21:2) - All remaining evildoers tossed into the Lake of Fire (Rev 21:8) - All nations live by the light of the Kingdom, there is no more curse, we all eat of the tree of life, etc. (Rev 22) I am sure that can be refined, a lot, but the important thing is that the Resurrection of the dead happens at the last trumpet and is followed by Christ's second coming. "For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own turn: Christ the firstfruits; then at His coming, those who belong to Him. Then the end will come, when He hands over the kingdom to God the Father after He has destroyed all dominion, authority, and power.…" I Cor 15:13-24
THE RIGHTEOUS DEAD ARE RAISED AT THE SECOND COMING WHICH IS FOLLOWED IMMEDIATELY WITH THE END OF THE WORLD The “Second Coming of Christ” has been a fascinating subject that seems to attract a host of differing views but what is the major event that brings about the “Resurrection of the Righteous Dead "and what immediately follows that Event? The Rapture is married to the resurrection of the “Righteous Dead” and this event happens at the “last day” or the end of the world. We can find evidence in the Scriptures that prove the event coincides with the end of the universe and the beginning of the new heavens and the new earth. Please note in 1Cor 15:23-24.....that “Christ being the firstfruits of them that slept” is speaking of the first Man to die and be raised and to ascend to heaven after His ministry on earth and “afterward they that are Christ's at His coming” refers to the all the “Righteous Dead” to be raised at the second coming(with the living). At this time known in Scripture as, “the last day” the “end-time harvest of souls” and “the final judgment” the righteous dead will remain with Christ and inherit the New Heavens and the New Earth and the wicked shall be judged and cast into the lake of fire. How do we know that the Resurrection of the “Righteous Dead and the “judgment of the wicked” are on the same day as the Second Coming of Christ? Jn 6:39-54 Describes the resurrection of the “last day” for the righteous dead.......Jn 12:48 those that reject Jesus are judged on that “last day” The Parable of the Weeds Explained by Jesus shows us that the one resurrection of the righteous dead and the last judgment are at the same last time event known as “The Second coming” and also proves that it coincides with “the end of the universe”.......Matt 13:36-43....”The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; The enemy that sowed them is the devil; THE HARVEST IS THE END OF THE WORLD; AND THE REAPERS ARE THE ANGELS. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear. The Resurecction of the Righteous Dead in 1Cor 15:23-24 is immediately followed by the words “then cometh the end” and goes on to describe that end. 1Cor 15:22-28. Kingdom delivered to the Father The complete conquering of all rule and authority and power Final enemy death, destroyed All rule and Authority delivered to the Father and Christ having conquered all enemies by His divine ministry on earth subjected under the Father’s reign in heaven. The Parable of the Net Matt 13:47-50 The nets full of every kind At the end of the world, the wicked are separated from the righteous by the angels The wicked cast into hell The Sound of the Trumpet.........Matt 24:28-31 Heaven and earth shall pass away but not God’s Word No Man knows the day nor the hour Sun darkened, Moon no light, stars of heavens fall, Jesus appears and dread comes upon the wicked The only gathering of the righteous to heaven The Sudden End Upon the Wicked and the righteous saved.......Matt 24:36-39......The same as it was with Noah all the wicked were judged and all the righteous were saved. Where is the promise of His coming? 2Pet 3:1-15 The scoffers were aware that with the Coming of Christ was supposed to be the end of the universe and Peter contended with them that even though it seems to be a long wait it was certain to come. The Universe will dissolve The NT saints were to expect the end of the universe with the Second coming we should too.
