What kingdoms did the statue that Nebuchadnezzar saw in a dream represent? (Daniel 2:31–45)

This image's head that King Nebuchadnezzar saw in his dream was of gold, breast and arms of silver, belly and thighs of brass, legs of iron, feet part of iron and part of clay.  Then a stone hit it and it became a huge mountain, filling the whole world.
