It has often been said that more wars have been fought in the name of religion than anything else. While that statement is completely inaccurate, many people still ponder the question, 'Why can't r...

The reason why religions can't get along peacefully is the fact that so many live Christianity as a 'religion', which it is not. Christianity is actually a relationship with God.

So, the problem is that 'religion' will either make you feel worse about your self, or prideful in self in comparison to others.

Paul said it best, quarrels stem from our own selfish ambitions, pride, wrong motives, hypocrisy, and the result of allowing the spirit of darkness into our lives. Paul has spoke and wrote against quarreling, especially arguments that do not advance the gospels and kingdom of God. If we are quarreling then their is no brotherly unity. God is not the author of confusion and chaos, but Satan is. God loves peace and unity, and Satan loves division and is a peace breaker.

Where there is quarreling there is no brotherly love, but pride and hypocrisy.

Let's be clear, Faith in Jesus Christ is NOT a religion, it is a relationship.

Eph 2:8 There is nothing we can do except receive the gift of God. John 1:12 says we are His children. Romans 8:17 goes even further saying we are joint heirs with Christ. Wow!

Religion is man's attempt to reach up to God. Impossible based upon man's weakness.

A relationship with Christ by faith is God reaching down to man. Totally possible based upon God's Omnipotence.

As an engineer, I have to fight, argue, debate, and justify my designs. The same is true with religion, the people have to defend what they believe. In defending their belief, emotions get checked and hurt which escalates into fights with weapons of war. Acts 17:23 shows us that people get very emotional about religion and spend lots of time debating it; even to an "unknown god".

For those of us in Christ, we don't have to defend our faith, God defends it and us. John 10:29 Mark 13:11 tells us that the Holy Spirit will give us what we need to say at the proper time. I'm blown away at how the enemies of Christ stopped confronting Him after His response to the tricky question about money. Luke 20:25 And His response is so profound for us today. Give to God what is His and give the government what is theirs.

Unfortunately, true Christians are going to be at the receiving end of persecution. John 15:20 The enemy of our faith will stir up hatred of us in everyone; religious people and those that are not.

As a result of John 14:6, there can be no peace between "religions". Jesus clearly set the line in the sand. Matt 12:30 However, the end times will be marked by everyone coming together with a joint hatred and persecution against the Jews and Christians. 2 Tim 4:3-5, Rev 20:4. Anarchy will reign as in Judges 17:6 and Judges 21:25. Matt 24:22-24 displays what it will be like. It's only going to get worse as we get closer to the return of Jesus.

One point, Islam is not a religion, it is an ideology and plan for world domination. The plan is very carefully laid out and successful. I think that John 16:1-4 is speaking about the Muslims. Notice: "the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service" But read John 16:22 and John 16:33. He told us in advance so that we would have joy and good cheer. God's plan is in play and being fulfilled right now. How awesome it that!

The most correct answer to this question, to me, is pride, though I would be the first to say it is way more complicated than that.

Why do i say pride? No one likes to be told that they are wrong, but the Truth is that there is only one Truth and many religions. Therefore, all but one religion believes incorrectly. Jesus said "I Am the Way, the Truth and the Life. There is no other Way." If any religion teaches other than that Truth, they are false.

That being said, for the most part throughout history, Christians have, I believe, failed to communicate this Truth properly (not an easy task). At the same time, the enemy has successfully sown discord and enmity between religions using pride and untruth. Many Christians, have, in fact been able to win converts and sew the Love of Christ throughout the world but the Truth remains that God is a Jealous God and while He wants us to win converts in Love and harmony, He will not accept anything but belief in Him and his Son.
