People who ask this question are usually not practicing any faith, and therefore they are unaware of the exclusive teachings of each religion.

"Getting along" seems to be the NEW religion! Postmodern thinkers say that no one can have the absolute truth (which in itself is an absolute statement!).

There IS absolute truth! 2 + 2 will always equal 4. There are things that are right and things that are wrong. And if Jesus is God, and He says He is the only way to the Father and eternal life (John 14:6), we had better listen!

I have just one answer to this question

Religions are created by man, requiring to follow and obey certain rules and we all know that being forced to obey without explanation as to why, in turn leads to resistance.

Christianity on the other hand is based on faith and free will to choose.

Yes some might say that it was forced on people in the past but if one stops and think; it was the religion, not Christianity

True religion is defined within the scriptures:

James 1: 27: Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Religion defined by man is based on doctrine of men and not the doctrine of God.
