In order to understand the importance of Christian fellowship, we must first understand what Christian fellowship is and what it isn't. The Greek words translated "fellowship" in the New Testament ...

The basic answer to this question is found in Hebrew 10:23-25, as follows:

" So let us seize and hold fast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word. And let us consider and give attentive, continuous care to watching over one another, studying how we may stir up (stimulate and incite) to love and helpful deeds and noble activities, Not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together [as believers], as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning, urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching (Hebrews 10:23 - 10:25 AMP).

In view of Jesus words in Matthew 7:13-14, " Enter through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and spacious and broad is the way that leads away to destruction, and many are those who are entering through it. But the gate is narrow (contracted by pressure) and the way is straitened and compressed that leads away to life, and few are those who find it (AMP), we need help in finding and walking on the narrow road that leads to life.

Christian meetings or fellowships provide us assistance in walking along that narrow road. The "day" that is drawing near is the end of the world, the taking over of the rulership of the world by God's government under the headship of Jesus Christ. It is also called " the great day of the Lord" in Zechariah 2:3 and " the day of judgement and destruction of ungodly people" in 2 Ptere 3:7.

We need to encourage and invite one another to love and fine works as we await that day. Christian meetings/ fellowship provide an avenue for this.

At Malachi 3:16, we get assurance that talking to one another about God and his promises and purposes, as well as being encouraged to fear him and do his will, as is done at Christin fellowships is rewarding.

"Then those who feared the Lord talked often one to another; and the Lord listened and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him of those who reverenced and worshipfully feared the Lord and who thought on His name. And they shall be Mine, says the Lord of hosts, in that day when I publicly recognize and openly declare them to be My jewels (My special possession, My peculiar treasure). And I will spare them, as a man spares his own son who serves him. Then shall you return and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him who serves God and him who does not serve Him (Malachi 3:16 - 3:18 AMP).

Christian meetings of course provide us spiritual education: bible exposition is carried out, biblical prophesies are explained and we get instructions on how to lead our lives to conform to God's ways.

In summary, the scriptures command Christians to fellowship together and, in fact, it is through the Christian Congregation under the guidance of holy spirit that God passes down information to true believers.

Finally, one may even opine that participating in christian fellowship may be a requirement for salvation.

Christian fellowship is the body of Christ living, breathing, moving, and working to do the will of God. Fellowship is the means God uses to build us up until we are pure and holy, spiritually mature, transforming our world and making it ready for Jesus to come again.

In my life, fellowship has provided the following benefits: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control, worship, prayer, encouragement, motivation, inspiration, instruction, comfort, admonition, protection, strength, knowledge, wisdom, belonging, generosity, a place to serve.

This list is not exhaustive but rather demonstrative. Fellowship is not optional. It is vital to our spiritual well-being. The end is near and the trials we will undergo in the church will intensify. We need Christisn fellowship every day.
