Who was Molek? (Isaiah 57:9)

You went to Molek with olive oil
    and increased your perfumes.
You sent your ambassadors far away;
    you descended to the very realm of the dead!

Isaiah 57:9

ESV - 9 You journeyed to the king with oil and multiplied your perfumes; you sent your envoys far off, and sent down even to Sheol.

Molek (also spelled Molech) was a heathen god whose priests practiced (among other things) the sacrifice (through burning) of the children of his worshippers. The passage cited in the question is describing God's displeasure with the way in which the Israelites had turned away from Him to worship this false god, and had also gone to extreme lengths -- to the greatest possible degree of separation from God -- to find other false gods whom they could worship.
