What did Jesus mean by a reed swayed by every breath of wind?
NIV - 24 After John's messengers left, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind?

The juxtaposition between a swaying reed and a man in fine clothes is used to draw attention to some of the frivolous reasons some people went to see John. Jesus is pointing out that John is more than a prophet. Jesus is also hoping that those that investigate Jesus statement will be directed to Jesus.
