Psalm 24:7, "Lift up your heads, O you gates! And be lifted up, you everlasting doors! And the King of glory shall come in."

Jeremiah 29:13, "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart."

These two verses illustrate the Hebrew "baqur,/ baqash" meaning to be concerned about, to look for. When you discover something is missing, you search to recover it. You can not stop until you find it.

We become devoted to the lost or recovered item. As in seeking Jesus, we become "married" to Him. We can not get enough of His company. We are united, made one in spirit.

"Darash" to consult, inquire, or require. Ezekiel 33:6, "But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet, and the people are not warned...the sword comes..." this is another Form of the Word seek in Hebrew. Something that is required or asked.

I think it refers to asking God in prayer, to inquire of Him.

Example, King Saul consulted a medium. 1 Samuel 28:3-25. Bad idea! See Deuteronomy 18:9-14.

Job 13:9,"Will it be well when He searches you out? Or can you mock Him as one mocks a man?" This is Hebrew "chaqar" meaning to examine intimately.

"Qirah" Exodus 19:17, "And Moses brought the people out of the campgrounds with God, and they stood at the foot of the mountain."
This is another facet of the Word seek, in Hebrew, meaning to encounter.

"Shachar" - Isaiah 58:8, "Then your light shall break forth like the morning,..." to seek, to be early at any task. Vs.9, "Then you shall call and the Lord will answer;..."

As you can see, there are many meanings to what is termed "seek" in our Bible. My understanding is that when you discover He is what you are missing, He becomes a priority. We can never again be without Him in our life. He is a never ending fountain that we cannot exhaust. We become in love with Him. We are married to Him like no other. 

Isaiah 55:6, "Seek the Lord while He may be found. Call upon Him while He is near."

1Thessalonians 5:17, "Pray without ceasing."

Seek His face — the brightness of his personal character — is hidden behind the curtain of our carnal desires. This condition is always ready to overtake us. That is why we are told to “seek his presence continually.” God calls us to enjoy continual consciousness of his supreme greatness and beauty and worth.

What It Means to Seek:
This happens through “seeking.” Continual seeking. But what does that mean practically? Both the Old and New Testaments say it is a “setting of the mind and heart” on God. It is the conscious fixing or focusing of our mind’s attention and our heart’s affection on God.

Now set your mind and heart to seek the Lord your God. --1 Chronicles 22:19 (This passage lists 1 Chron. 16:11 as a cross-reference).

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. (Colossians 3:1–2)
Its a conscious choice.
And as we direct our minds and hearts Godward in all our experiences, we cry out to him. This too is what seeking him means.
Seek the Lord while he may be found; call upon him while he is near. (Isaiah 55:6) NET

1 tn Heb “while he allows himself to be found.” The Niphal form has a tolerative force here. (God permits it).
Seeking involves calling.
The great promise to those who seek the Lord is that he will be found. “If you seek him, he will be found by you” (1 Chronicles 28:9).
