What kind of records does God keep? (56:8)

Psalms 56:1 - 13

ESV - 1 Be gracious to me, O God, for man tramples on me; all day long an attacker oppresses me. 2 My enemies trample on me all day long, for many attack me proudly.

"You keep track of all my sorrows. You have collected all my tears in your bottle. You have recorded each one in your book."-- (Psalm 56:8 NLT)

The psalmist (David) makes a play on words (pun)-- on the Hebrew translated sorrows nod and bottle (Hebrew no’d). "The Hebrew term נֹד (nod, 'wandering,' derived from the verbal root נוֹד, nod, 'to wander'; cf. NASB) here refers to the psalmist’s 'changeable circumstances of life' and may be translated 'misery.'” --bible.org

Even in our deepest sorrow, God cares! Jesus reminded us further of how much God understands us—even the hairs on our heads are all numbered (Matthew 10:30).

Often we waver between faith and fear. When you feel so discouraged that you are sure no one understands, remember that God knows every problem and sees every tear.
