What does the fire represent when Paul says, "He himself will be saved, yet as through fire"?

What is Paul saying through the Holy Sprit when he says, "If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire"? What does the fire represent?

1 Corinthians 3:13 - 15

NKJV - 13 Each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone's work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the GIFT of God is eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord. We are all sinners Romans 3:23. But Jesus paid the price for all sin, so that any one who believes on Him will be saved.

John 6:47 Verily, verily I say unto you, he that believeth on me HATH EVERLASTING LIFE. All our sin debt has been paid in full, and we can no longer be condemned. John 3:18.

But how we live after we have received the free gift of salvation by grace, is how we are going to be rewarded in heaven.

If we continually sow to the flesh, we will reap what we sow, but we can not lose our salvation which Jesus paid for with His own blood sacrifice for all sin. First John 2:2.

When we believe the gospel, First Corinthians 15:1-4, That Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures, that He was buried and rose again on the third day, We are sealed by that Holy Spirit of promise.

Ephesians 1:13. In whom ye also trusted, after ye heard the word of truth. The Gospel of your salvation, in whim also after ye believed, ye were sealed by that Holy Spirit of promise.

So our eternal life is assured. John 10:28-29. But how we live and treat others is how we are going to be rewarded in heaven. All believers will stand before the Judgement seat of Christ and will be rewarded for our works. We can not be saved by works, Romans 11:6 and Romans 4:5, but believers will be rewarded for their good works done in the Spirit.

First Corinthians 5:5 Turn such a one over to Satan to kill the flesh, so that his Spirit will be saved in the day of the Lord. This born again believer, Ephesians 1:13, was sleeping with his fathers wife. He was about to lose his life, and the rewards he could have had in heaven, but he was still saved so as by fire. His works would be burned up, but the man would still be saved from Hell. Why? Christ died for our sins. All of them forever.

We are all sinners to a degree. First John 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the TRUTH is not in us. We can not be made perfect in the flesh, only in the Spirit. First John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doeth not commit sin, for His SEED, (the Holy Spirit) remaineth in him, and HE can not sin, because He is born of God. Ephesians 1:13.

The flesh or our old nature is not saved. That is why we all die. It is only our soul/spirit that is saved.

So all who have received the free gift of salvation will go to heaven, but our rewards in heaven are not going to be the same.

We can only be saved by what Jesus did for us, but how we live after that determines our rewards in heaven.

And, for those that have helped in any way to bring lost people into the kingdom will have rewards And those who overcome the sin in their lives will receive a crown of life.

The GIFT of God is eternal life, for just believing on His name. John 1:12 and First John 5:13. Believers are already positionally overcomers through Christ. Rewards are for walking in the Spirit and not in the flesh. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you remembering we are all sinners to a degree and knowing that we will not pick at every little thing others do. We are not perfect either.

If we live right after we are saved we will have rewards, but living right never saved one person. We can only be saved by what Jesus did for us and that is free. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace ye are saved, through FAITH, and that not of yourselves, (we did nothing for it) it is the GIFT of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.

As far as our salvation goes, we have nothing to boast in. Jesus paid it all and we paid 0.It is free. You can not add to free or boast in free.

This is the will of God for everyone. John 6:40 And this is the will of Him who sent me, that ALL that seeth the Son, and believeth in Him, may have everlasting life, and i will raise him up on the last day.

What good does it do to do many wonderful works but never believe on Him. Matthew 7:21-23
