I would say that this is done today by figuratively walking out of the spiritual darkness of sin or unbelief, and into the light of life, by appropriating through faith in Jesus the salvation that He made possible by His atoning death and resurrection. The references to the fountain of life and to light are foreshadowings of Jesus' discussion with the Samaritan woman at the well in Sychar (as discussed in John 4:1-42), where He referred to the "living water" that He would give to those who asked Him; and also of the imagery in Revelation 21:22-22:5, where John said that the new Jerusalem that he saw in his vision had no need of an external light source because the glory of God was its light, and where John saw the river of the water of life flowing from the throne of God.
Psalm 36:9: For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. For one to go through the “Fountain of Life,” one needs to pray always without ceasing and not lose heart. For the fountain of life then springs from the “Living Water,” leading one who prays without ceasing in their humbleness to be exalted. For with joy shall one who prays without ceasing and not losing heart, shall then draw water out of the wells of salvation. (Lk 18:1,14/1Thes 5:17/Isa 12:3) The fountain of life and the living water are given to one who believes in faith and comes to Him. For our Lord Jesus is the Light of this World, who believe in Him shall not abide in darkness. (John 12:46) The parable Lord Jesus revealed unto us the Publican who came and prayed, “God be merciful to me, a sinner.” He was brought into the fountain of life, and in the light of the Lord's presence saw the light and went down to his house justified. (Lk 18:14) The fountain of life given unto one is through humbleness, which leads one to sacrifice unto God having a broken spirit and a broken and a contrite heart, for He shall not despise one who comes to Him. (Psalm 51:17) The Publican humbled himself, leading his thirst for a spiritual drink, that he came to the Lord, for out of his belly flowed rivers of living water, leading him home justified. (Lk 18:14/John 7:37-38) Lord Jesus perceives in His spirit every heart of God’s creation in this world. There was a time when he preached in Capernaum in a small house, where there were too many people. A paralyzed man was brought unto Him by lowering down from the roof, and He said unto him, "Son, thy sins be forgiven thee." Many reasoned in their heart that He blasphemed, Lord Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned within themselves. Lord Jesus then said unto them, "Why reason ye these things in your hearts?" Today, for one to experience and go through the fountain of life, every child of God the Father who is born from above shall see the kingdom of God. For they which were born not of blood, nor the will of the flesh, nor the will of man, but of God. Born of the fountain of life that is born of water and the Spirit, enters the kingdom of God. For then, those who are baptized are born of the fountain of life, which leads one to flow in the rivers of living water, to have a humble and contrite spirit. For he that is born of the Spirit, is led to flow in the rivers of living water, for out of his belly then, shall flow rivers of living water to discern in the right Spirit that beholds and stands beside you. (John 1:13,3:6,7:38,16:13) John 4:14: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
“For with you is the fountain of life, in your light we see light.” Water (note “fountain”) and light are here metaphors for life. I love and am full of joy, sharing Jesus, the Light of the world with others. He brought me out of darkness into His marvelous light. Now I must tell all the wonderful things He has done.
