I strongly recommend Celebrate Recovery. It is a Bible based 12 step program for recovery where Jesus Christ is our higher power.

I'm glad you asked. We see in Ephesians 5:18 (Matthew Henry Commentary): Drunkenness is a sin that never goes alone, but carries men into other evils. It is a sin, very provoking to God. Note: we need to submit daily to his leading, and draw on his power. Ask the Lord to first; admit your sin(s), plus you can't overcome these habits by yourself, but you need his help to quit these fleshly habits, and he will deliver.

I quit by praying constantly, and with a little help from my friends. A good person you can talk to honestly about why you drink. I am counting my blessings, and it brings me to tears. Think of what Jesus did for you, and what you can do for Him! My drinking caused ill effects for a lot of people. Now I lead by action, and a willingness to listen, not judge. I pray that this will help.

Christ cast demons out of people. Any addiction is a condition where the person has lost control of their own ability to manage the problem.

If you believe that a person can have unclean spirits living in their body, then the obvious answer is to allow Christ who rose from the dead and is living today, to cast the demon or unclean spirit out of the body. For a disciple of Christ the body is a temple of the living Christ and the Holy Spirit (1Cor 3:16-17) and any unclean spirit has no right to be living in the temple since a disciple is owned by ABBA, ALHYM (Mk 14:36; Ro 8:15; Gal 4:6; 1Cor 6:19-20).

May I suggest that a repentant heart is required? If the addiction is alcohol then repent of the root cause for the drinking problem. The same applies to any other addiction such as drugs, pornography, gambling, violent behaviour in the home etc.

The person must want help from Christ. This is faith in action. Asking for forgiveness and receiving forgiveness from Christ who is our mediator (1 Tim 2:5) means that His blood which was shed on Calvary can be made effective to cleanse us of unrighteousness (1 Jo 1:7-9). Thus a person is prepared for "the surgery" - where the demon or unclean spirit is identified, and then cast out by Christ (Heb 4:12-13).

Sometimes the unclean spirit will leave immediately. Other times it may put up a massive fight for it may not want to leave the body where it has made its home.

Christ's words come to mind - then, "Go and sin no more."

We must will to submit ourselves to the living and dynamic Christ, so that he will manifest Himself, His glory in our temple (2 Cor 3:18).

This act may be by direct action from Christ through the Holy Spirit, or through another disciple by the laying on of hands or whatever.

"iEsou christou (Mt 1:1 Greek) is the same yesterday, today, and forever" (Heb 13:8).
